My Interview with Artist and Teacher Clara Berta

Clara Berta

Who first told you about love?
I was not told. However, I felt loved by my family (perhaps saying it was harder for them than showing it). I remember I told my parents “I love you,” and slowly, with time, they would say it as well. There was love in my family, but also difficulty in expressing it.

What does love mean to you?
Loves means feeling affection, kindness, compassion, and support in all areas of my life.  Love means losing myself at times and learning to find a balance. Love happens as a result of growing close and finding common ground upon which you can nurture a friendship into a loving relationship.

Where do you see love in your life?
I see it when I receive feedback about my artwork and also when I am teaching my students. It’s all about sharing and feeling love.

When do you think love happens?
Love happens when you are open to receive and to give. Then, loves comes more freely. It’s that first kiss that makes a difference, you know? You feel it and you want it again; that’s part of love, the excitement of wanting it again and being with that person.

Why is love important to you?
It is part of my nature to feel and share and love is key in all that I do.

How does love affect your creativity?
Love is key in my creative work and when I am happy and loved my work shows it and I am more productive and creative in all areas of my life.

Did you ever need help with love?
Yes, of course, we all need help with love.

Are you understanding love?
I am. Sometimes it comes when you least expect it from strangers, so that is beautiful. The surprise of getting flowers from a friend who is thinking of me is also very special. Life is about creating memories and moments and we connect the dots and remember the people in our lives.

Can love affect you to change?
Yes, love is a huge factor and it can certainly affect me to change for the better, since touch and sharing are key. Love in and of itself is change. It is life altering when you find love in your life. It is also interesting that falling in love can be positive or negative.

Has love lost or gained meaning for you?
Love has gained more meaning to me since I had a special love in my life and lost him ten years ago, so I know what real love is and missing it very much and I desire a special man in my life again.
